Nylon-string funk, bossa, flamenco, Cuban jazz, songs in three languages, captivating guitar and trumpet conversations, virtuosic bass and cajón solos, refined cello lines – all with a bit of a Miami suntan.
This project came to life in collaboration with my uncle, pianist Mikhail Prokopets, inspired by and dedicated to the most important people in our lives - our family, and the loving memory of Esfir Prokopets.
The instrumental rendition features a unique rhythm perspective on the famous Ukrainian folk song, as well as intricate improvisation work by guitarist Aleks Di Roma, trumpeter James Davis and percussionist Juan Pastor.
