Give your imagination a soundtrack. This concert series by guitarist Aleks Di Roma explores the sounds of the present moment and the music that lives and evolves within us. On May 11, Aleks is joined on stage by one of NYC's most talented beatboxers, Mark 'Mandibul' Martin. The set will be a continuous interaction between the musicians and the audience, shaping the melodies, rhythms and genres of the night.

The audience plays an integral role in the music-creating process by consistently and randomly suggesting events, genres, emotions and associations, which are simultaneously illustrated through music. Each set is unique, fully improvised, and unpredictable.

About Aleks Di Roma

Works by guitarist, singer and composer Aleks Di Roma have received international acclaim and are featured on radio and web playlists across the US and around the world. Originally from Ukraine, Aleks had picked up his first guitar at the age of seven and has never put it down since, exploring a variety of improvisational music genres ranging from flamenco to jazz and studying with extraordinary guitarists Irina Yanovskaya, Michele Iaccarino, Manuel Lozano Gomez, and Alfredo Mesa.

Shortly after releasing an album of original works entitled "Horizon Of Harmony," Aleks had embarked on a musical journey to the birthplace of guitar and one of Spain's richest cultural regions, Andalusia, studying flamenco, performing, and continuing to define his sound, composition, and his unique guitar percussion technique. Since 2011, Aleks is the president and co-founder of Terra Sounds School of Music & Arts in Chicago and NYC. He is a passionate music producer, engaging guitar instructor, and a vibrant performing artist featured in numerous international music festivals, concerts, productions, recording projects, and improvisation workshops. Currently, Aleks is based in New York City, maintaining an extensive recording, arranging, teaching, and performing schedule.

About Mark Martin

NYC based musician and actor Mark Martin (aka Mandibul) has been beatboxing since age 13, inspired by the jazz, rock and hip hop music he grew up listening to. Mark competed in the American Beatbox Championships 2015 in both the 1v1 and 2v2 divisions. He was a judge for the New England Regional Beatbox Battle in 2014 as well as the SingStrong Chicago Acapella Festival in 2014. He has been an internationally touring member of the Voca People since 2011, an acapella musical theatre show that features beatboxing and vocal acrobatics. Mark is a teacher at the BEAT Rockers program that teaches beatboxing to the blind at the Lavelle School for the Blind in the Bronx. Mark also performs with NorthCoast, a NYC based hip hop improve comedy troupe since 2011. Mark Graduated from NYU in 2011 from the Gallatin School of Individualized Study where he worked on analyzing beatboxing from a linguistic perspective
